This Week In Digital Advertising Data (October 21st, 2022)

Let’s see what this week’s numbers say about online advertising, shall we?

  • Although last October, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook was rebranding as Meta and setting its sights on the metaverse, which he dubbed the “successor to the mobile internet”, a year has gone by,  and the company hasn’t had that much success. Meta’s value dropped 57% this year, and has less than 200,000 monthly active users on its Horizon Worlds metaverse platform.
  • According to the third annual State of Small Business report,61% of small and medium size businesses are using social media marketing to increase customer engagement and traffic.  56% agree that their business has leveraged digital tools and technologies to create new opportunities to make money over the past 2 years.
  • Various social media platforms appears to be on the rise this year, according to survey results YouTube and Facebook remain at the top, while Instagram is used by half of the US adult population. The numbers: 82% of US adults are on Youtube nonstop, 70% of US adults reported using Facebook, 47% of US adults surveyed said they use Instagram. LinkedIn is next with 31% of US adults report use of the professional platform, side by side with TikTok, which is now used by 3 in 10 US adults, per the report.
