This Week in Digital Advertising Data (June 10th, 2022)

Let’s see what this week’s numbers say about online advertising, shall we?

  • What are people talking about? According to YouScan’s research related to social media posts, Politics was the most discussed topic, accounting for 2% of all analyzed conversations. Gaming and health come in second with 1% each. Food, incidents, and celebrities each received about 0.6%. The most popular social networks have to do with more with dynamic content such as video, reels, GIFs, etc. Here is a ranking according to engagement rate by platform: Instagram: video, with 0.6, TikTok: video + caption, with 7.49, Twitter: images, with 7.0, Facebook: video, with 53.8, YouTube: video + caption, with 24.56.
  • On this eMarketer report, a resurgence in search ad spending is expected. Growth will be 9.3% this year, but that rate will more than double to 19.0% in 2023, then moderate to 14.3% in 2024. Display formats will account for slightly more than half (54.2%) of the digital market this year.
  • Amazon advertising continues its massive growth. The company already accounts for more than 1 in 10 US digital ad dollars, and the prediction is it will continue to grow.
