Display Ad Design

That time someone sold a t-shirt on Amazon saying “Keep Calm and Knife Her”

Do you remember 2012? When awkward bangs, mustaches, and “Keep Calm and Carry On” were the main trends? Well, yes, very embarrassing, but also very true. So Michael came up with another brilliant idea: Compile a huge list of verbs to follow up the starting phrase “Keep Calm and…” and have his algorithm create very original catchy t-shirts. However, again, the human factor was not taken into consideration and so the internet (and specifically Amazon) ended up filled up with these sorts of things.

The Two Types Of E-commerce Display Ads

If you’ve spent a considerable amount of time on the internet (as we all have lately), you’ve surely come across various display ads. One feature of these ads that has likely stood out to millions of viewers is their design. It only takes simple observation to note that not all display ads are created alike in terms of aesthetic value, content, and much more.

The Influence of Instagram On Ads

Instagram is now one of the leading social media platforms in the world and for good reason. The surprising feature Instagram has managed to pull off amidst rising competition from other social media platforms is that it’s still growing in popularity. One way to explain this would be the timeless appeal of speaking through images; the other would be a global pandemic that’s forced everyone to stay indoors and spend more time than usual on social media.

Is the Display Ad world too complex? (AKA, DSP, SSP, What?!)

Short answer: Yes, it is. But today, we’ll try to approach understanding why, and what consequences all this complexity brings. A few days ago, a friend of mine and I realized we had another friend in common that we never knew of, so I said: “The world really is a village”, and she gave me an answer I’d never heard nor thought of: “And really very similar to a maze”. This crazy deep and also very simple analysis meant one thing that could easily apply to the Display Ad world too: As small as it is, it can get impossibly complex.

Have you checked out Google Web stories?

Do you remember those days when Snapchat was the only social media platform that even had stories? Well, they are definitely over. First, Facebook and Instagram decided that they should have them too. Later, Twitter figured they also should take advantage of them. And just when everyone thought this was as far as it could go (except for, you know, calculators having their own stories too), Google came in and said “count us in.”

Ads that sell more than just a product

Ever since I was a teenager I’ve been using the same Dior perfume that I begged my father to get me for Christmas 2015: J’adore by Dior. By now, I’m not sure if I even like it anymore but neither did I when I first wanted it after seeing this Ad. Six years after the first time I saw Charlize Theron here, I still know exactly what my 14-year-old mind thought: I want, no, I need to be her.

What Are The Most Popular Banner Sizes Of All Time?

My goal today is to discover the most popular and effective Google Display Ads' and paid banner's sizes of all time. Okay, I'll admit it's not that hard to do but it sounds like a fun research project ❤️

Display Ads in Which Parody Meets Reality

I don't know what could explain the existence of this ad, but here are a few possibilities.

When Ad Targeting Gets Too Specific

It’s a known fact that targeting for online advertising is becoming more and more specific by the minute. Companies look at users’ behavior—both online and offline—to determine which types of ads to serve to their target audience.

The Beauty of the Ugly E-commerce Display Ads

Ugly on purpose? What? Is that even a thing? Today we are going to talk about what I found out about this topic.

A Gentle Introduction to TikTok Advertising

There are many ways brands can build a presence on TikTok. The first is a more typical and traditional approach, creating a TikTok advertising account to get started. Once a company has an account, they can choose different options to best fit their campaign needs.
